The Independent Office of Evaluation of IFAD (IOE) and the Independent Evaluation Department (IED) of the Asian Development Bank organized a training on ex-post evaluation methodologies in the broader framework of evaluation capacity development (ECD) activities promoted by the two independent offices of evaluation in the Lao People's Democratic Republic.

The training took place in Luang Prabang on  20-24 February 2017 and it was attended by 60 participants from national authorities and M&E officers from IFAD-supported and ADB-supported operations in the country. IOE and IED delivered several presentations on ex-post evaluation methodologies and provided the participants with practical case studies.

The training was also an occasion to boost South-to-South dialogue and knowledge exchange on monitoring and evaluation (M&E). Government officials in charge of M&E in other countries of the region (e.g. Indonesia, Malesia, Philippines and Viet Nam) were invited to the training and shared their experiences and lessons learned on evaluation. The participants appreciated the methodological approach of the various sessions, which were interactive and provided an opportunity for learning and networking among peers.
