On 2 November, Mr Fabrizio Felloni, Deputy Director, IOE, delivered a presentation on “Conducting Evaluations in Times of COVID-19: Challenges, emerging opportunities and insights”. The presentation took place during the second session of the COVID-19 Learning Series, organized by the Global Evaluation Initiative (GEI) in partnership with the COVID-19 Global Evaluation Coalition, and titled “Evaluating interventions for COVID-19 response and recovery: What have we learned?”

The session outlined the ethical, conceptual and methodological challenges for designing and implementing evaluations in times of COVID as well as some potential solutions. Discussions centred on some of the practical solutions that were implemented to address data collection constraints, as well as some of the innovations that were explored to strengthen the evidence base of evaluations.
