Dr Juha Uitto is an evaluator focusing on environment in international development. From 2014 to 2024, he served as Director of the Global Environment Facility (GEF) Independent Evaluation Office (IEO). His previous appointments include evaluation positions at UNDP (including Deputy Director of IEO) and the GEF. He has managed and conducted numerous evaluations at global, regional and country levels, especially in Asia and Africa. Throughout the 1990s he was environmental research and training program coordinator at the United Nations University. He has published widely on related topics and holds a PhD in Social and Economic Geography.
