Tunisia Country Programme Evaluation

The overall objective of the country programme evaluation in Tunisia was to draw lessons from over 20 years of project experiences (1980-2002) as a contribution to guiding future IFAD strategy in the Republic of Tunisia.

It covered all the contours of cooperation, particularly in the context of Tunisia’s development policies. The report extensively brought out the objectives, strategy, achievements and impact of the cooperation between IFAD and the Republic of Tunisia.

Based on its findings, the report made a number of recommendations such as, the need for IFAD to have a general strategy framework, stress on innovations, the need to look beyond agriculture, anchoring projects more solidly in local institutions and local economy, encouraging women’s participation and many tools for effective implementation of projects.
