Mr Oscar A. Garcia, IOE Director and Chitra Deshpande, IOE Senior Evaluation Officer attended the confence  Understanding global and Local Inequalities: An EU- French Development Agency (Agence française de développement, AFD) Initiative which took place in Paris on 15 January 2018.

The European Commission is funding a Facility for a Research programme on inequalities under Development Cooperation Instrument, which is implemented by AFD.

The conference provided  a forum for debates on the trends of global inequality, its impact on local inequalities, the links between inequality and poverty and the policy options in terms of fighting inequality.
