Flexible support for a sustainable impact

Foundations and philanthropic organizations collaborate with IFAD because of our global reach with key stakeholders, including governments and rural development projects in almost 100 countries worldwide, and because our strategies align with national priorities.

IFAD is a suitable partner for foundations who want to make a sustainable impact in areas including climate adaption for rural communities, smallholder productivity, and food security.

The flexibility of foundation support helps IFAD explore and scale new ideas and proven innovations for rural people.

"Our foundation and IFAD have independently funded many of the same projects because we share many of the same goals… If you care about the poorest, you care about agriculture."

- Bill Gates, co-chair of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation

IFAD and Gates Foundation partner to increase livestock productivity in India

India is the world’s second largest producer of goat meat, second only to China. About 90 per cent of goats are owned by resource-poor households belonging to scheduled castes, scheduled tribes and other disadvantaged castes. The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation is working with IFAD in India to create viable small ruminant value chains that will transform the lives of these rural poor.
