Project for the Restoration of Livelihoods in the Northern Region
The Project for Restoration of Livelihoods in the Northern Region (PRELNOR) will increase sustainable production, productivity and climate resilience of smallholder farmers and provide increased and profitable access to domestic and export markets.
PRELNOR will build on lessons learnt from IFAD and other donors investments. It will scale up the household mentoring approach successfully tested under the IFAD-funded District Livelihoods Support Programme (DLSP) and build on the successes of constructing roads under the Community Agricultural Infrastructure Improvement Programme and the DLSP. To ensure that farmers engage in better organized marketing and benefit from higher prices and reduced post-harvest losses, the project will scale up the innovative market access projects supported by IFAD in Niger and the farmers' organizations market approach in Tanzania.
It will reach out to and benefit 140,000 rural households, including young people and will be implemented in the seven districts of the Acholi subregion together with adjoining Adjumani District.
