Impact Evaluation of the Jharkhand-Chhattisgarh Tribal Development Programme in India - IOE
This in-house learning event took place on 19 June 2015. The operation evaluated was the Jharkhand-Chhattisgarh Tribal Development Programme in India. The programme's objectives were to empower tribal grass-roots associations and enhance livelihoods through developing income-generating activities, increasing agricultural productivity and maximizing existing land and water resources.
The impact evaluation used quasi-experimental methods, combining quantitative econometric and qualitative techniques. It included the collection and analysis of primary data from both the target population (i.e., the treatment group) and those who did not benefit from the programme (i.e., the comparison group), for a total number of 8 804 households.
The aim of the learning event was to present the results and recommendations from the impact evaluation, and share the methodological approach, key challenges and lessons learned in applying rigorous quasi-experimental quantitative methods in evaluating the impact of IFAD-funded operations.
