On 19 July 2023, the Independent Office of Evaluation of IFAD (IOE) is holding a learning event on the project cluster evaluation (PCE) on rural finance in East and Southern Africa. The event will take place from 15.30 to 17.00 Nairobi time (14.30–16.00 Rome time) in a hybrid modality, with some participants meeting physically in the IFAD East and Southern Africa regional office in Nairobi, and others connecting online.

The learning event will serve to share the main findings and lessons identified in the PCE, which covers IFAD-supported projects in Ethiopia, Kenya and Zambia. In addition, the seminar is envisaged to facilitate discussion and reflection on selected key issues, such as how can rural finance projects balance complex designs with effective implementation, and what IFAD can do to enhance the performance of financial service providers in terms of targeting and reporting. Expected participants in the event are IFAD staff working on rural finance in East and Southern Africa, as well as other project staff or practitioners engaged on the topic.

The seminar material will be made available on this webpage in due course.
