The Independent Office of Evaluation of IFAD organized a high-level session on the role of independent evaluation in the transformation of multilateral development banks, which took place on 8 June 2017. This was a unique opportunity to take stock and discuss the future of multilateral development banking in the context of the 2030 sustainable development agenda.

Distinguished experts participated, including: Mr Masood Ahmed, President of the Center for Global Development; Professor Bambang P.S. Brodjonegoro, Minister for National Development Planning of the Republic of Indonesia; Mr Enrique García Rodríguez, former Executive President of the Development Bank of Latin America (CAF); Ms Cheryl Gray, Director of the Office of Evaluation and Oversight of the Inter-American Development Bank; Ms  Caroline Heider, Director General and Senior Vice President, Independent Evaluation Group, World Bank Group; and Dr Joachim von Amsberg, Vice President, Policy and Strategy of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank.

Mr Oscar Garcia, Director of the Independent Office of Evaluation of IFAD and Chair of the Evaluation Cooperation Group of multilateral development banks welcomed the participants, and the  President of IFAD, Mr Gilbert Houngbo, opened the session.
