The Independent Office of Evaluation (IOE) organized a virtual learning event to present the 2020 edition of its flagship report, the Annual Report on Results and Impact (ARRI). The objective of the seminar was to share and discuss the findings of the 2020 ARRI. The event took place on 27 October 2020 from 15.00 to 17.00 hrs CET (Rome time), via Zoom webinar.

The ARRI presents a synthesis of the performance of IFAD-supported operations and highlights systemic and cross-cutting issues, lessons and challenges to enhance the development effectiveness of IFAD-funded operations. The 2020 ARRI has identified a number of factors that the independent evaluations have highlighted as recurring in the design and implementation of IFAD-supported projects.

Mr Fabrizio Felloni, Interim Officer in Charge, IOE, delivered the opening remarks. Then, IOE presented the main findings of the 2020 ARRI. This was followed by a panel discussion on enhancing the role of governments as partners in IFAD-supported projects. The discussants included Ms Johanna Pennarz, Lead Evaluation Officer, IOE; Ms Rasha Omar, Country Director for India and Hub Head, Asia and the Pacific Division, IFAD; Mr Ulac Demirag, Country Director for Ethiopia, East and Southern Africa Region, IFAD; and HE Dr Kaba Urgessa, State Minister of Agriculture, Ministry of Agriculture, Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia. The audience was then able to interact with the panellists in a live Q&A session. Mr Donal Brown, Associate Vice-President, IFAD, also delivered remarks.

The event was attended by over 80 people.
