On Monday, 7 October 2019 the Independent Office of Evaluation of IFAD (IOE) organized a panel discussion Evaluation Policy for institutional effectiveness. The purpose of the event was to share the experiences related to the evolution of the evaluation policies and evaluation functions in development organizations.

The panel discussed the experiences of other international financial institutions such as the Independent Evaluation Group (IEG) of the World Bank and the UK’s Independent Commission for Aid Impact (ICAI). It explored what works well and what could be improved in IOE’s existing policy as a step ahead in the journey towards a collaborative and consultative process for developing new evaluation policy that addresses the recommendations of the recently conducted Peer Review.

The panellists were: Oscar Garcia, Director of the Independent Office of Evaluation of IFAD; Alison Evans, Director General and Senior Vice President, Independent Evaluation Group, World Bank Group; Donal Brown, Associate Vice-President, Programme Management Department of IFAD and Paul Winters, Associate Vice-President, Strategy and Knowledge Department.
