The Ministry of Finance of the People's Republic of China invited IOE to present its evaluation approach and experiences at the Spring 2015 SHIPDET course in Shanghai from 5 to 15 May, 2015. IOE was represented in the event by Ms Johanna Pennarz, Lead Evaluation Specialist.

This was part of a series of activities to implement the Statement of Intent signed by the Independent Office of Evaluation of IFAD and the Ministry of Finance of the People's Republic of China in September 2013. The Shanghai International Program for Development Evaluation Training (SHIPDET) is financed by the Ministry of Finance, the Asian Development Bank, the Asian-Pacific Finance Development Center (AFDC) and the World Bank.

SHIPDET has been held twice per year since 2007, with a two-week Spring Course mainly for Chinese participants in April and a two-week Autumn course in October with participants from the Asian region. There is approx. 1240 SHIPDET alumni, most of them from government organisations in China.
