A 12-member delegation of IFAD's Executive Board visited the Republic of Cameroon in July 2019. The visit was intended as an opportunity to gain knowledge and understanding of the Fund's work in the field. It allowed Board representatives to witness IFAD's work on the ground and observe at first hand the opportunities and challenges that IFAD faces in carrying out its mandate.

On Monday, 22 July, the delegates attended an introductory workshop on IFAD's programme in the country. In the afternoon of the same day, the delegation started a tour across the regions that took them to visit: the Aquaculture Entrepreneurship Promotion Project (PPEA), the Rural Microfinance Development Support Project (PADMIR), the Commodity Value Chain Support Project (PADFA) and the Youth Agro Pastoral Entrepreneurship Promotion Programme (PEA Jeunes).

On Friday 26 July, in Yaoundé, the delegation was received by the Prime Minister for the Republic of Cameroon, H.E Joseph Dion Ngute. The delegation reiterated IFAD's commitment to contribute to rural transformation in Cameroon, by eliminating barriers that impede rapid uptake of new technologies, and for investing in market access, in the creation of opportunities for the youth, and in addressing governance and capacity related challenges.

The Director of the Independent Office of Evaluation of IFAD (IOE), Mr Oscar A. Garcia, participated in the visit and delivered a presentation on the country strategy and programme evaluation in the Republic of Cameroon.
